Why Rediscover History on Stage?

The Athens Chautauqua Society is in the business of “rediscovering history, one performance at a time”...for young people too. We support teaching this model of live performance in the classroom similarly to the way it plays out on public stages across America. That way students can learn how to become playwrights and performers, Chautauqua style, wherever history might come to life for them.

Please enjoy the conversations!

Athens Creative Theatre “Making History” Drama Camp

The Athens Chautauqua Society is partnering with Leisure Services’ Athens Creative Theatre for a one week camp where children ages 10-13 will do research around an historic figure of interest, learn the principles of dramatization in a fun and creative way, and prepare a presentation of that character for their fellow campers.

For more information, please visit the Athens Creative Theatre website, or contact Terry Powell.
